What’s up guys! Welcome to my first proper tip video on Youtube! I say “proper” because incase you’ve missed it, I recently did a “How To Bounce A Golfball” YT right here – https://youtu.be/PI_DW5nFVNc . If you follow me on Instagram, you know I love to educate golfers on things I’ve learned throughout the years, so now I’m finally able to give you #TipsWithTish in long form!
For every 1st lesson, regardless of playing level – this is the first and most important (in my opinion) point I teach/check on. The root of all problems start with GSAP! GSAP stands for grip, stance, alignment, and posture. You can easily identify the level of a player by these qualities and it takes no talent to get this right. I love taking beginner golfers and giving them a professional set up! What better way to hit a perfect shot, than to prep yourself for the perfect shot am I right? When in doubt, always remember to GSAP it out!
My teaching history:
While I was chasing my LPGA card from the end of 2015-2018 I was an instructor at my old home course, Alta Vista Country Club (awesome track with awesome people btw). I taught many kids and female members to help fund my professional career.
In addition, I attribute a lot of my knowledge not only on experience, but also thanks to my University – CSUF – for having one of the only biomechanics labs in the U.S. that specialized in golf available at my leisure. My trainer and assistant coach were professors who often used me as a model for the lab and taught me the in depth understanding of the golf swing from a biomechanics/physics perspective.
Lastly, I was taught by a swing coach for 8 years of my life who took me through the in’s and out’s of the golf swing by the “Golf Machine” method and tested me on all things Trackman. Here I was fully able to understand any swing by numbers on a monitor.
My goal whenever I instruct is to break down these tips into the simplest form and more importantly breakdown WHY things are happening in your swing. I’ve always been an extremely analytical person, so understanding why things were happening in my swing was crucial to me. If an instructor can’t tell you why one thing causes the next, I also suggest you leave. lol.
Anyways!!! I look forward to doing more videos like this! And I look forward to announcing the winner to my giveaway!!! Thank you all for watching!
